FUNNY THING: In my very first column (mentioned in last week's rant), I promoted a condo in the very same complex: Over 2000 square feet. Price: $209,950! That was then (1997), this is now. Our just-completed sale was 1550 square feet for $490,000! Why do I say real estate is an excellent hedge against inflation? This is why. BUY A MILLION DOLLARS of well-selected real estate and let your tenants help you pay it off! The song is the same as it was fifty years ago. And what seems like an astronomical price today will be a distant memory a few years into the future. Kinda like gasoline prices. WASSUP with the market: I just searched Metrolist MLS to get the number of active single-family home listings in all price ranges. The number has SHOT UP...From 28 all the way to 32! If ever there was a great time to be a Seller, this is it! Angel and I spoke with a homeowner today who plans to be on-market shortly. They get it! They're excited, and we're excited for them!
